The biology department provides many opportunities to catch a good presentation. In the fall and winter semesters, you can usually catch departmental seminars on Thursdays 3:30-4:30 pm in the 5th floor lounge, or come to a graduate student presentation 3:30-4:30 on Fridays during FISH.
Once a year, the graduate students also host the Lett Symposium, where graduate students in the biology department are invited to share their research in oral presentation or poster format.
Don't forget that once in a while a graduate student in the university finally wraps up their research, and the thesis defence is usually public, so don't be shy to come encourage a fellow student down the final stretch.
